Yes, really — and it’s just as joyful as it sounds. Whimsical feathered friends strutting proudly in their finest footwear — because why should humans have all the fun? How did Birds in Shoes hatch? Back in the twenty-teens, accomplished artist and corporate communication trainer Jim Sorensen had a novel idea pop into his head at an annual art retreat:  to draw a kiwi bird in saddle shoes. Several more birds in shoes illustrations followed, and Jim noticed how the whimsical creatures made people smile and light up. Jim's wife began to post them on Facebook: that’s when Birds in Shoes was officially born.
Fast-forward to now: the Birds in Shoes flock has now proliferated to hundreds of adorable drawings, which pair meticulously rendered, brightly colored feathered friends (and sometimes, other creatures) with a vast variety of footwear, ranging from the practical to the preposterous.
37K + social media followers (and growing) of Jim's Birds in Shoes groups watch and wait for the newest flights of fancy to land as Jim hatches his creations, typically several per month.
Jim's website, jimsorensen.com, hosts a dedicated online shop where you can find annual calendars featuring Birds in Shoes and captions that tell the story of each illustration's inspiration, several art books, and adorable baby gifts.
